Open Source

Montera font is a block display typeface featuring modern mono square variable letterforms. Single and flexible, this design delivers monospace aesthetics with variable capabilities for systematic brands and flexible communications. The variable mono construction creates flexible systematic presence. Designers working on systematic products, monospace branding, and variable communications will appreciate the montera character. Pair with monospace body text.

Montera comes from the work of Chuan Cheng. The typeface reflects a focus on typographic detail, visible in its letterform construction and optical balance.

As a Display typeface in the Vox-ATypI Graphic classification, Montera features tight spacing optimized for large point sizes and exaggerated contrast, weight, or decorative features. These optical characteristics make it well-suited for editorial magazine covers and chapter openers.

Montera is available in a single weight, offering focused typographic consistency spanning screen and print contexts, with 3 font pairings curated. Standard Latin character coverage serves the majority of Western typographic workflows.
