Giraffe: History & Characteristics

Handwriting

Open Source

Giraffe font is a handwriting typeface with condensed cute letterforms and comprehensive Cyrillic support. Each character displays tall, narrow shapes with giraffe character while enabling Eastern European typography. This condensed cute Cyrillic style suits animal content, Eastern European zoo graphics, and designs requiring tall typography in Cyrillic contexts with giraffe charm. The giraffe reference emphasizes tall animal character. Designers creating Cyrillic animal content will find Giraffe appropriately tall and cute. Complements zoo palettes.

Giraffe comes from the work of Yulia Chernova. The typeface reflects a focus on typographic detail, visible in its letterform construction and optical balance.

As a Handwriting typeface in the Vox-ATypI Scripts classification, Giraffe features disconnected or loosely connected letterforms and irregular stroke weight from natural hand pressure. These optical characteristics make it well-suited for packaging for artisanal and handmade products.

Giraffe is available in a single weight, offering focused typographic consistency across digital and print workflows, with 4 curated font pairings available. Standard Latin character coverage serves the majority of Western typographic workflows.
